I can see how people would think that. I have everything I could possibly want. If I acquire more, it would mean nothing to me. I mean that. I have so much as it is. I spend much of my life thinking of people who have less. Part of that may be there was a point in my life that I had nothing.

Yes you do think of others because you know the score. But you know Rebecca there can be an amazing grace in giving and socially investing and enabling good people and diminshed people to rise up. I say: lets get dosh to those who can use it well to get others into a better position and start a miraculous cycle…. comment??

I am all for that. I tell you, the charities I support are all meant to help people in bad positions in life. I love Doctors without Boarders because they go to places that no one (even military) wants to go. They spend more money on the people than the charity takes in for themselves. (it bothers me how many charities only use 20 or 30 percent of their intake on the actual cause)
The other one I love is run by a family member. She works very hard to make sure people are paid what they have worked for. You’d be amazed how much wage theft goes on in the world. Also people hire with the intent to never pay. The workers feel powerless and they have no money to pay a lawyer to advocate for them. She also campaigns for people to payed a living wage, in order that they can live and support themselves.
Another one is advocacy centers for children that have been abused. As I was one, it is too painful for me to offer my time. I will give my clothing, item donations, and money.
I am a firm believer in giving people a hand up and training them in skills that will help them better their lives. If I am not using something I give it to charity with the exception of cars and houses as if I gave those things away, I wouldn’t be able to afford to help anyone anymore.
I feel, strongly, that the world should be a little less narcissistic and more willing to help others. If we all would open our spirits to the greater good, we would be a better place. Yes I write a tongue in cheek narcissistic blog, but mostly it is intended to make fun of myself. If I ever become successful at this writing thing, I fully intend to also use my position as a platform. I already have small messages in my satire. We can all do better.
Really though, thanks for this thought provoking reply. I love to express this side of me. I am a bleeding heart, but only because I have been the wounded.
x,
